Many people have been asking questions about the cost of K1 (fiancée) visa. We all know that having a foreign fiancée from other countries means need a lot of effort to work for the relationship and it also means you need to save money if you want to be together in the US and ended the LDR situation. If you are in a relationship with someone who lives in another part of the world and you want to live together in the same place, eventually there is no choice but to start the immigration process to close the distance between you and your loved one. In this topic I’m going to discuss the visa cost in 2018, this is from the filing fee until the cost to adjustment of status. (This is visa cost from the Philippines)
Before you start thinking of how to apply for a K1 visa for your foreign fiancée, I believe the first thing you need to think about and prepare for is your money because the cost of petitioning your foreign fiancée is not easy, from legal process to cost. If you start gathering all the documents and preparing, it is frustrating sometimes but the most frustrating part is if your budget is enough. If you are in a hurry to petition your fiancée but lack the budget you might end up broke because your only choice is using your credit card or borrowing money from somebody. That is why it’s important that you do research about K1 visa and how much it cost before doing something. Explain to your partner your financial status and ask her to give more time to save for her petition, I’m sure your partner will understand you as long as you are honest with her. It’s better, to be honest than bragging that you can afford her petition right away but the truth is you don’t know where you will get money for her petition. Also, you need to make sure you meet or exceed the minimum income requirements (or be independently wealthy, lol). If you do not, you will need a co-sponsor.
What Are The Cost Of K1 (fiancée) Visa
This is updated cost (2018)
Children of your fiancee (K2) cost (if applicable)
I converted the prices to peso but please be aware that the currency exchange of peso to dollar is not accurate but since this past few months the currency always stays to $1=55 pesos what I did is convert everything to 55 pesos except the medical fees because St. Lukes have their own charging medical examination fee in pesos and no matter how high or low the currency exchange is they still remain in their medical charge fee and please notice that I put approximately price in dollar in other cost and I didn’t put the exact cent on it
Note: Some NBI clearance outlets require community certificate (CEDULA) together with the 2 valid I.D you will present. CEDULA issued in each barangay hall, and the barangay hall staff requires barangay clearance before they issue CEDULA. And the price of CEDULA and barangay clearance is depended on each barangay and if you are an employed citizen the price is much higher.
This set of price is based on my own cost back in 2016 but it doesn’t mean me and your fiancée has the same cost, her cost can be higher than mine and if she has K2 expect the price to be doubled.
This set of price is based on my own cost but it doesn’t mean me and your fiancée has the same cost, her cost can be higher than mine and if she has K2 expect the double price. I have company in my medical which is my cousin and sister so the hotel room is bigger and I prefer to just rent a van during my interview than paying hotel because it’s cheaper and convenient. I didn’t include my cost to fare and food because it’s not accurate and can’t even remember how much I spent to it. Once your fiancée starts the K1 process make sure to include the budget for fare and food. I am just from Batangas and I don’t have to ride in a plane just to get in Manila. If your fiancée is living in Visayas, Mindanao or if she is very far from Manila, you need to add more budget for it.
My Husband Other Cost
This set of price is way back 2016, the airfare, hotel and other cost are surely not the same as yours, I just wrote it down for you to have an idea when you decide to start filing K1 visa. Plus we have a daughter so the airfare is double and triple because my husband came to the Philippines to fly back with us. So if your fiancee has K2 and you want to pick them up in the Philippines your cost to airfare is maybe almost same to this set of a price but it still depends to the price of your ticket.
Other costs once your fiance arrived in the US
If your fiance decided to report your marriage to the Philippine consulate after the wedding in the US the processing fee is $25. In this set of price I didn’t put the price of my wedding dress because it’s just a white dress and just a cheap one, our wedding ring is a gift from my mother in law and after our wedding my father in laws paid our food to restaurant and we are just 6 people including the pastor who did the ceremony. It is a very simple wedding and we did not spend too much on it.
You can add the wedding dress, wedding ring, restaurant or photographer to this set of cost. Just look online how much are they, so you can also be prepared for it.
As you can see, if you are a U.S. citizen whose fiancée lives overseas, and you would like to have your fiancée immigrate to the United States, you have an important choice to make. Should you bring your intended spouse to the United States right away if your budget is fine or should you save for it first? Remember, everything is always money matter that needs to consider. But you have to remember too that everything is worth it if your loved one is with you, you can be happy together.
